Beer Test Rules

A. Award Information.

1. The Golden Palate Award (framed certificate) is presented to the participant who receives the most points in the contest (see below for rules)

2. The Thomas J. Kroljic Memorial Kitty Litter Award is presented to the participant who receives the least amount of points.

3. When deemed appropriate by the Beer Meister, a new Hall of Fame inductee will be awarded the coveted Silver Mug.

 

B. General Format Information.

1. A menu of all of the beers in the contest will be provided.

2. Voting will be done by secret ballot.

3. The Beer Test Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place at halftime.

4. Failure to finish a beer test will result in a permanent ban.

5. Failure to display the Golden Palate or Kroljic award at your home or office will result in a permanent ban.

6. Any contestant who receives the Kroljic award three consecutive times will be required to serve the beer at the next beer test.

7. There will be a total of 16 beers tasted during an official beer test - Yes, it used to be 30....then 24.....then 20, but let's face it, you guys are old.

8. Additional beer tests may be staged when deemed necessary by the Beer Meister.

 

C. How points are awarded.

1. Five points will be awarded for correctly guessing a beer.

2. Two points will be awarded for correctly identifying the duplicate beer. You will be deducted three points if you guess more than one time.

3. A single point will be awarded for correctly guessing the country of origin (import test only).

4. Points can and will be awarded/subtracted by the Beer Meister at his discretion.

5. Points will definitely be taken away for the following behavior:

  • Not completely finishing a beer.
  • Not completely filling out your score sheet.
  • Unauthorized trips to the kitchen.
  • Cheating.
  • Challenging the total authority of the Beer Meister.
  • Spewing in public (15 point deduction).

6. Identifying the import beer at the domestic contest will be worth two points. You will be deducted three points if you guess more than one time.

7. There will be a "Beer Meister's Bitch" round. Donna will, at her discretion, award one point to the participant of her choice. You will be informed which round she will be awarding points. Bribery, kissing ass and general brown-nosing is encouraged.
